처음 건축주 부부를 만났을 때, 그들은 가족이 제주에 내려오게 된 과정부터 수년간 꿈꿔왔던 스테이를 만드는 미래까지 설레는 마음으로 이야기해주었다. 제주를 선택하고 선흘리에 자리를 잡게 되면서 아이들과 함께 만들어갈 미래와 삶에 대한 꿈의 이야기는 프로젝트의 현실적인 어려움보다 기대감으로 가득 차 있었다.

부부와 아이의 침실 공간과 대부분의 일과 시간을 보내게 될 거실과 주방 공간을 분리하여, 거실과 마당을 중심으로 한 공간 계획에 중점을 두었다. 

거실과 마당 사이에 있는 처마가 있는 테라스는 제주의 변화무쌍한 기후에 대응하는 반 외부 공간의 기능을 하며, 높은 층고를 활용해 마련된 여유로운 다락은 아이의 성장에 따라 자연스럽게 활용될 수 있는 풍부한 공간감을 제공한다.

이 집을 시작으로 건축주 가족이 서서히 확장하고 만들어갈 시설들은 아이의 성장과 함께 하나씩 완성되며, 가족의 추억이 쌓여가는 집이 될 것이다.

When we first met the client couple, they excitedly shared their journey from deciding to move their family to Jeju to realizing their dream of creating a stay they had envisioned for years. Choosing Jeju and settling in Seonheul-ri, their discussions about the future and their dreams for life were filled more with anticipation than the practical challenges of the project.

They focused on designing the living and kitchen spaces, where the couple and their children would spend most of their time, separated from the bedrooms. 

Emphasizing a layout centered around the living room and courtyard, they positioned a terrace with a roof between these spaces to serve as an outdoor area adaptable to Jeju's ever-changing climate. They also utilized a high ceiling to create a spacious loft that could naturally evolve with the children's growth, offering ample room for reflection.

Starting with this house, the family of homeowners gradually plans to expand and develop facilities, completing them one by one alongside the children's growth, thus creating a home where family memories accumulate over time.
